Education, not medical advice
The content on this site is general patient education. It is not a diagnosis, not a treatment recommendation, and not a substitute for a consultation with a clinician who has examined you and knows your history. Do not use it to decide on treatment without that consultation.
No guaranteed outcome
No treatment described here can be guaranteed. Results vary with anatomy, healing, age and time, and the same procedure performed by the same surgeon does not produce identical results in two patients. Where this site describes typical recovery or typical duration, it describes a range rather than a promise.
Scars and permanence
Surgical incisions leave permanent scars, and the tissue does not return to its original state. Chin implants are intended to be permanent unless removed. Some risks, including altered sensation in the chin and lower lip, can be permanent.
When to seek care urgently
After any procedure, severe pain out of proportion to the operation, rapidly increasing swelling, fever, spreading redness or difficulty breathing requires urgent assessment. If you are unwell after a procedure, contact the treating team or attend the hospital rather than waiting for a review appointment.
